• "free style" european bondage
• japanese bondage, called "shibari" or "kinbaku"

Shibari is a traditional bondage technique and art from Japan, its origins go back many centuries. You will find explanations and hypothesis on its origins on other web sites and books. It is of military origin (it was used to tie, dominate, humiliate and torture prisonners) and it is deeply rooted in japanese culture.

Shibari/kinbaku is an especially interesting bondage technique because it is both FUNCTIONAL and EROTIC. It is functional because bondage will effectively restrain the movements of the submissive, she cannot move or free herself if the bondage has been carefully done.

The bondage is also beautiful to watch. Ropes must be disposed in regular patterns. The effect is erotic arousal of the submissive (because ropes take into account energy lines and the chakras) and of the person watching.

The set for shibari is a traditional japanese house. Hemp rope is used.

The submissive is called m-jo, she is partly or fully naked.

The usual types of bondage are:

• Shinju ("pearls"): breast bondage
• Ushiro takatekote: arms and breast bondage, arms in the back
• Matanawa, sukaranbo ("peaches"): bondage of the waist and the crotch
• Hishigata ("diamonds"), karada or kikkou: bondage of the whole body in tortoise shell
• Agura: seated bondage
• Gyaku ebi or"hogtie": bondage on the belly, legs folded in the back
• Tsuri: suspensions

Free style bondage is better explained by comparing it to shibari.

It is not always really functional The set can be any modern environment: room, bed chair, stairs, etc.

Cotton or synthetic ropes are used. The various colors allow different effects with the skin, the clothes, underwear, etc.

The submissive can wear some clothes: underwear, gloves, t-shirt, high heel shoes, boots... All the fetish accessories can be used.

There is no formal technique. That's why it's called free form!
